This event is now SOLD OUT; Workshop by Franny Moyle; How to look at paintings

April 2 at 6:30 pm 8:30 pm

We are delighted that critically acclaimed author Franny Moyle is able to present two fantastic workshops for us. This first workshop ‘How to look at paintings’ at 6.30 – 8.30 on Tuesday 2nd April is followed by ‘How to be an art historian’ on Tuesday 9th April at 6.30 – 8.30.

‘How to look at paintings’; Recent research shows that on average when we visit an art gallery we only look at a painting for a matter of seconds. Yet we spend hours engaged with books, television programmes and films. Franny thinks we have lost the understanding of how to look at paintings, as well as the confidence to express our own views about art. In this workshop she hopes to re-engage people with the art of looking.

The workshop will be interactive and discursive. Aiming to equip people with the tools to talk with confidence about painting. It will be a mix of hands on engagement with paintings in the room, as well as analysis and discussion of work by major artists.

This two hour workshop starts at 6.30 and costs £20 payment can be made using the link below.
